# Royalties

One exciting aspect of NFTs is creator royalties from secondary market sales.

## Royalty standard

Verse smart contracts use the [EIP-2891](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-2981) royalties standard proposed by the [Ethereum](https://ethereum.org/) foundation.

## How royalties are paid out to artists

For works resold on Verse, royalty payments will appear immediately in [your Verse account balance](https://verse.works/account) in the same currency that the purchase was made with.

For works sold on other platforms, royalties are paid directly to your wallet address.
