# Environment

Verse uses green blockchains like Ethereum with very low energy consumptions. To put things in perspective, the entire Ethereum network consumes 25x less energy than the payments platform PayPal.

We partnered with [Offsetra](https://offsetra.com/) to offset the small volume of carbon emissions we do generate through blockchain transactions, which we track with [carbon.fyi](https://carbon.fyi).

You can read more about the energy consumption of Ethereum on [their website](https://ethereum.org/en/energy-consumption/).
